Oceanic Bridge Closure Scheduled for Thursday Night

Weather permitting, county work crews will be conducting routine maintenance to prepare for the summer season.

The Oceanic Bridge over the Navesink River, linking Rumson and Middletown, will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, May 29 through 5 a.m. Friday, May 30 for routine maintenance repairs to bridge's movable section.

The bridge was briefly closed Monday night for a malfunction of its pink locking system, according to a Middletown Police Lieutenant quoted in APP.com.

The bridge will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic, weather permitting, while the work is conducted by the Monmouth County Division of Bridges.
