Oprah Winfrey Holding Cory Booker Campaign Fundraiser

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is scheduled to be the headliner of a $1,000-a-plate dinner to support Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s U.S. Senate campaign.

The dinner is scheduled for Thursday at The Liberty House Restaurant in Jersey City. Tickets range from $1,000 to $2,600.

Booker’s campaign has previously said about 200 people are expected.

Booker has previously appeared on Winfrey’s show and the two are friends.

Booker is the current frontrunner among a field of Democratic hopefuls vying for the U.S. Senate seat of late Sen. Frank Lautenberg. Booker leads U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone (D-6) and Rush Holt (D-12) and state Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver (D-34) in the lead up to the Aug. 13 special primary election.
