RFH Takes a Break from Technology
In an attempt to start conversation, two Spanish Honors students asked their teachers and peers to give up their technology for the day.

Faculty and students at (RFH) are taking a break from technology.
Two Spanish 5 students, Elise Keale and Rebecca Farina, proposed "Un dia sin technologia" for their marking period project about technolgy and the environment. They thought it would be a challenge to ask the teaching community to minimize or eliminate their use of some technologies for the entire day on January 11th.
Keale noted that it’s still a question as to “whether or not we are dependent upon technology. Maybe this project will cause a little conversation."

Teachers were asked to limit their computer use to necessary tasks forgoing the use of PowerPoint and related programs for the day. They intend to extend their request and ask the student body to participate by limiting or eliminating their use of iPods and phones for the duration of the day as well.
In addition giving an interesting presentation and practice with thematic writing for their world language requirements, the students hope to encourage dialogue on the dependency of certain technologies. Farina said, “Teachers that were interested asked numerous questions looking for loopholes for the day.”
