Rumson Resident Named National Garden Club President
Mary Warshauer, a Rumson resident and Garden Club of Fair Haven member, took on the prestigious role May 19.
FAIR HAVEN, NJ - One of Rumson’s own has recently been selected to lead a national garden club, according to a news release. Mary Warshauer, a Rumson resident and longtime Garden Club of Fair Haven member, took on the prestigious role of President of National Garden Clubs (NGC) on May 19.
A lifelong gardening and floral design enthusiast, Warshauer has made it her focus to implement civic and environmental education initiatives through various garden clubs. Since 1987, she has been involved with the Garden Club of Fair Haven where she participated in various beautification projects, some of which earned her flower show judge accreditations.
Warshauer served as president of the Garden Club of New Jersey, Inc. from 2009 to 2011 and Central Atlantic Regional Director from 2013 to 2015. She first joined the NGC Board of Directors in 2007 as a Water Quality & Conservation Chair, going on to serve as Blue Star Memorial Highway Chair and First Vice President.

“Through her volunteerism at NGC, Mary aspires to spread awareness throughout schools, groups, clubs, and communities regarding the need to educate future gardeners and help the next generation with tools to develop creative ways to sustain our world," her biography reads at the NGC website.
Separately, the Rumson resident has served on the Rutgers Gardens Advisory Board and been a member of the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society and the American Horticulture Society. She has also shown support for local philanthropic organizations such as the Visiting Nurses Association and Clean Ocean Action environmental group.

She touts a Bachelor of Science in Child Development Elementary Education from Florida State University. Warshauer and her husband Jim have three adult children.
“ As a member of the Garden Club of Fair Haven it is an honor for Fair Haven and the Garden Club of New Jersey to have our own Mary Warshauer as the National Garden Club President,” the Garden Club of Fair Haven wrote in a statement. “She is a true leader of this amazing gardening organization.”
