Rumson St. Patrick's Day Green Tree Lighting

Rumson, NJ - In case you didn’t know, Rumson takes St. Patrick’s Day seriously.

The annual Lighting of the Green Tree for the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day festivities will be Saturday, February 27 in Victory Park.

The tree lighting goes from 5-6 p.m., followed by a fundraiser at Val’s Tavern, with a family sit-down dinner at 6:30 p.m. and live Irish music by Black Water Band from 8 to 11 p.m. All in town are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The 4th annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day parade will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 13 this year, and its Grand Marshal is Jack C. Howley, president of the Howley Financial Group and a founding board member of the parade. Jack is passionate about his Irish heritage. He is an avid runner and long-time fan of Notre Dame Football, according to the parade website. There are several upcoming events in February and March in the lead-up to the parade on March 13:

Traditional Irish Seisiún & Soda Bread Competition: Oceanic Library ~ 109 Ave of Two Rivers ~ 7-8:30 p.m.

Friday, February 19

Parade Press Event: Murphy’s Tavern ~ Free Buffet, Pipers & Irish Dancers ~ 3-5 p.m.

Saturday, February 27

Lighting of the Green Tree: Victory Park ~ 5-6 p.m. followed by Val’s Tavern Fundraiser, Family Dinner & Irish Entertainment ~ 6:30pm; Music by Black Water Band ~ 8-11 p.m.

Wednesday, March 9

Investiture Cocktail Reception: The Salt Creek Grille ~ 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Sunday, March 13

Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade: VIP Reception ~ 11:30 a.m. followed by VIP party afterward; Parade ~ 1 p.m.
