Rumson residents are proud of their borough.
You can see signs hanging in homes with the borough’s name, the town plastered on license plates and the back of cars and it is even the name of one lucky family pet.
Rumson, a two-year-old Golden Retreiver, is a proud penninsula pup who can be seen on his daily walks around the borough.

Kara and David Markiewicz have lived on Cedar Ave. in Rumson for 6 years. When their dog Romeo passed away, they wanted to pay tribute to him by naming their puppy with a “R” name.
“We just came up with it over coffee one morning,” said Kara. “We thought it just fit, and at least our kids would always know the town where we live!”

The Markiewicz have two little girls, Emma who is 3 and Natalie who is only 4 months. Although the girls are small, Rumson is a big part of their lives.
Emma, 3, says Rumson is “a part of our family” and her favorite playmate. Their favorite games include “Fire hats, chasing and puzzles and princesses.”
Both Emma and Rumson are a fan of the local fire departments. Their favorite part of the day is their daily walk to “see if the fire trucks are out” at the Rumson Fire Company on River Rd.
In addition to supporting the fire department, Rumson is a peninsula pro and a friendly neighbor. “He knows most of the area and most of the neighbors and the garbage men from our walks,” said Kara. “We always stop to say hi!”
If you see Rumson and his family roaming the peninsula, be sure to say hello to this proud peninsula pup!
