Rumson Warns Residents to Prepare for Storm, Flooding
Major coastal flooding is now expected, and those in low-lying parts of town should be prepared, police say.

Rumson, NJ - With the first major storm of the season barreling towards New Jersey, Rumson police are warning residents to stay alert and anticipate possible flooding, Sgt. Chris Isherwood told Patch Wednesday.
Major coastal flooding is now expected with this storm, AccuWeather forecasters predict. According to tide charts for the Sandy Hook region, high tide Friday is at 6:41 p.m. Low tide is at 7 a.m. Saturday, and high tide is at 7:28 p.m. The mix of increased precipitation, high tide and a full moon Saturday night could all lead to flooding, forecasters warn.
Those who live in low-lying parts of Rumson should be alert, Isherwood said, particularly along Waterman Avenue and Shrewsbury Drive, two of the most flood-prone spots in town.

Avenue of Two Rivers also gets significant flooding on the south and north ends, Isherwood said.
The snow is now expected to start after midnight Friday night (2 a.m.) and continue through Saturday night. It may turn into a mix of freezing rain or sleet Saturday morning. There is also a possibility for 60 mph wind gusts along the coast.
