101 Cleveland Dogs: City Kennel Full, Adoption Rates Lowered

The city needs people to start adopting canines so they're making it cheaper to bring a dog home.

CLEVELAND, OH — Adoption costs are being lowered at the Cleveland City Kennel because the facility is now at capacity, the city announced this week. That means the adoption fee has dropped from $61 to $41.

“There are 101 city dogs at the kennel currently awaiting loving homes,” said Michelle Harvanek, shelter operations manager. “There’s a match for anyone looking to adopt and our Adoption Counselors are happy to help find the right fit.”

All dogs at the kennel are vaccinated, microchipped, spayed or neutered and come with a 2018 Cuyahoga County license. The city has said it wants to see more of its dogs get adopted so that it can open up space at the kennel.
