3 Dead, 3 Hurt In Cleveland Gas Station Shooting

Gunfire erupted in a gas station parking lot, leading to three deaths and three injuries.

CLEVELAND — Three people were killed and three others were hurt when gunfire erupted in the parking lot of a gas station in Cleveland on Saturday, police announced.

At 2:20 a.m., 911 callers reported gunfire at Prestige Petro Gas Station, 8805 Buckeye Avenue. When officers arrived, two men were found in the parking lot. Both had been shot multiple times.

Police gave the men first aid until EMS arrived. They were taken to University Hospitals, where they were later pronounced dead by doctors.

Multiple shell casings and guns were found in the parking lot, police said.

A third person was found on the sidewalk on E. 89th Street, they had also been shot multiple times, police said. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

A fourth person was taken to University Hospitals by EMS, where they were treated for a gunshot wound to their ankle. They were later released from medical care.

Two additional people were taken to hospitals in their own cars, police said. They had both suffered bullet grazes to the head, and the head and shoulder respectively.

Cleveland police's homicide unit took over the investigation, interviewing hospitalized victims. Preliminary information suggests two men began fighting in the lot and multiple guns were drawn, resulting in an exchange of fire, police said.

The suspects have not yet been identified, police added. The shooting is still under investigation.
