Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has been rated the number one medical school in Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio: The Case Western Reserve School of Medicine has been named the top medical school in the State of Ohio by U.S. News & World Report, according to a press release. The school was also ranked among the top 25 medical schools in the nation.
U.S. News & World Report ranks colleges based on peer assessments of medical school deans, heads of internal medicine, and directors of admission. The qualifications of students accepted into the program and research funding is also used in the ranking process.
"Our continuous ranking as number one in Ohio and being placed among the top 25 medical schools in the United States reflects our long-term commitment to excellence in medical education and research," said Pamela Davis, MD, PhD, dean of CWRU's School of Medicine, and the university's senior vice president of medical affairs.

"We are proud that the excellence of our academic program continues to attract students who are among the finest in Ohio and the nation," she added.
Vice Dean for Medical Education Patricia Thomas, MD, FACP, said that when it comes to education of students, the school is looking to the future.

"As change sweeps across our health care delivery system, we have ensured that our students are prepared to provide effective medical care to patients and their families in the 21st century."
The release also said that the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is dedicated not only to improving health around the state and around the world, but in Cleveland too. To achieve this, the school is providing first-year med school students with clinical assignments designed to that increase their understanding of the challenges of providing healthcare to Cleveland's low income population.
