City Council Names Street After Slain Salvation Army Volunteer

A portion of Grovewood Avenue in the Euclid Beach area of Cleveland has been renamed for Jared Plesec, who was killed Dec. 2.

CLEVELAND, OH -- At the Dec. 4 City Council meeting, Ward 8 Councilman Mike Polensek introduced legislation to name a street after a Salvation Army volunteer who was killed Dec. 2 at the Euclid Beach Apartments. According to WKYC-TV, Jared Plesec, 21, was going to volunteer at a Salvation Army kettle site near his home when he was shot and killed.

Plesec's suspected murderer is William Ted Jones, 27, who was arrested by Lakewood Police over the weekend after a series of carjackings. He is charged with aggravated murder, grand theft motor vehicle and fleeing and eluding police.
