Cleveland Police Shoot, Kill Man During Gunfight
The 33-year-old Cleveland man ran from police, flashed a gun and exchanged shots with officers, police said.

CLEVELAND, OH – A Cleveland man is dead after he and another suspect were involved in a gunfight with police late Wednesday afternoon, police said. The altercation took place near East 91st Street and St. Clair Avenue.
The shooting victim, identified by the Cuyahoga Coroner's office as Antonio Levison, 33, was armed when he was shot by an officer, said Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams during a press conference late Wednesday. A video of the press conference is available at cleveland.com.
Levison and another suspect were approached by police and ran, the chief said. During the pursuit, one of the men tripped and he dropped his gun. He got back to his feet and continued running. When police ordered him to stop, he turned and flashed a second handgun, the chief said.

Levison and police exchanged gunfire, the chief said. Levison was wounded and later died at University Hospitals, according to a report from WEWS-TV. The identities of the officers and more details of the incident will be released as the investigation continues, Williams said.
Police did not indicate what happened to the second suspect.

The initial call came from residents in the area, Williams said. Police recovered two handguns after the incident.
