Gas Prices May Fall In Ohio With Colonial Pipeline Running Again
Gas prices spiked 6 cents on average in Ohio since Friday. Will prices drop before Memorial Day weekend?
OHIO — Since the Colonial Pipeline's operations were interrupted, fuel prices have jumped 6 cents on average in Ohio, according to AAA.
However, the pipeline restarted its operations late on Wednesday. While a full resumption to normal could take days, the strain on fuel supplies on the East Coast, particularly in Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas, will be eased. It could also bring gas prices down in Ohio.
“The restart of the pipeline is very positive news for motorists,” said Jeanette McGee, AAA spokesperson. “While impact won’t be seen immediately and motorists in affected areas can expect to see a few more days of limited fuel supply, relief is coming. Station pumps will be full of fuel in several days. This is an especially good update ahead of the Memorial Day holiday.”

According to a AAA study, more than 1 million Ohioans plan on road tripping during the upcoming holiday weekend. Since Friday, gas prices in Ohio jumped 6 cents to $2.89, on average. Gas prices are also up $1.02 from last year, AAA said.
With many Ohioans planning trips south, including to states like Tennessee and South Carolina, the news of falling gas prices will be music to the ears.
