Gordon Square Is A Place For Artists, Actors
With the first annual Gordon Square Artist in Residence program designation, artist John G. will have an exhibition of his work.

CLEVELAND, OH -- With all of the artists and lovers of the arts living in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, it makes sense that its Gordon Square Arts District would be thriving these days. According to Crain's Cleveland Business, the District has begun its next phase of the Gordon Square Residency Program. This follows the first "Artist-in-Residence" designation and will target actors, playwrights and performance artists.
Local artist and comic book illustrator John G. is the first Gordon Square Artist-in-Residence. He has released an autobiographical comic book about his life experience being in a wheelchair. An exhibition of John G.'s work will be on display at the Gordon Square Art Space, 1386 W. 65th Street, beginning Nov. 17 and running through Dec. 2.
The Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood is home to a total of five theatre troupes: Cleveland Public Theatre, Near West Theatre, Talespinner Children's Theatre, Theatre Ninjas and Blank Canvas Theatre. The combination of residents and those who are involved with the theater and the arts makes for a vibrant community in the W. 65th Street and Detroit Avenue nexus.
