Cleveland Taco Bell Robbery Suspect Dies After Armed Employees Open Fire: Police

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the incident at the W. 117th St. restaurant.

CLEVELAND, OH — Police say that armed employees of a Taco Bell restaurant on Cleveland's west side, shot and killed an armed gunman trying to rob the restaurant. A second robbery suspect fled the restaurant, police said.

Five employees, all men, were at the restaurant at 1531 W. 117th St. at the time of the robbery, which was reported just before 3 a.m. Police reported the two gunmen entered the restaurant and ordered the employees to the ground. That's the the employees allegedly shot the suspects.

Three of the employees, ages 19, 19 and 23, were armed when the robbery occurred, police said. When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect, an unidentified man, with multiple gunshots and lying on the floor near the counter of the restaurant.

The wounded suspect was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. No arrests have been made in the incident, and homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.
