Northeast Ohio Firms Get Seven Ohio Medical Marijuana Licenses

CLEVELAND, OH -- The Ohio Department of Commerce has granted 12 Level One medical marijuana cultivator licenses for up to 25,000 square feet of growing space, according to cleveland.com. Seven out of the dozen companies are Northeast Ohio firms. In addition, six out of the dozen "small grow" winners are in Northeast Ohio, according to cleveland.com.

Two of the Northeast Ohio companies are Harvest Grows, LLC that will have cultivation farms in Cleveland and Lawrence County and Farkas Farms, LLC in Grafton. Harvest Grows, LLC is owned by Ariane Kirkpatrick, a construction services entrepreneur whose AKA Team has its offices in Cleveland's Hinckley Parkway.

Two other Northeast Ohio firms are Buckeye Relief, LLC in Eastlake and the Parma Wellness Center on Corporate Drive in Parma. The dozen firms now have nine months to get a certificate of operation after a state inspection. These licenses are for cultivating medical marijuana only.

Buckeye Relief was the highest scoring applicant, according to the Ohio Department of Commerce. The Eastlake firm scored a 179.28. Some of the principal agents of that firm have financial interests in medical marijuana growers outside of Ohio, including DHSM Investors LLC and MedMen Opportunity Fund, a Canadian-based equity fund.

The Eastlake company is one of the few firms to already have a website. On its digital site, Buckeye Relief promises to "create quality local jobs in a highly motivating work environment and will be responsible and actively engaged neighbors in our communities."

• Cresco Labs Ohio LLC (Yellow Springs, Greene County)
• Parma Wellness Center LLC (Parma, Cuyahoga County)
• Harvest Grows LLC (Hamilton Township, Lawrence County)
• Harvest Grows LLC (Cleveland, Cuyahoga County)
