Patrol Sergeant Promoted With Cleveland District Criminal Patrol Unit

Sergeant Neil D. Laughlin was promoted to the rank of lieutenant by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

CLEVELAND, OH - From the desk of the Cleveland Police Department: Sergeant Neil D. Laughlin was promoted to the rank of lieutenant today by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Training Academy. Lieutenant Laughlin will remain at the Cleveland District Criminal Patrol Unit.

Lieutenant Laughlin began his Patrol career in March 2001 as a member of the 137th Academy Class. He earned his commission in September of that year and was assigned to the Mansfield Post. As a trooper, he also served in the Office of Personnel, and at the Mt. Gilead Post. In 2009, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the New Philadelphia Post to serve as an assistant post commander. As a sergeant, he also served at the Berea, Warren and Cleveland District Criminal Patrol Units. He earned the Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement twice and the Criminal Patrol Award eight times.

Lieutenant Laughlin earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in criminal justice from North Central State College in 2009. He also served in the United States Marines from 1996 to 2000.
