Pipe Bomb Found In Vehicle At Near West Side Salvage Yard
A pipe bomb was inside a vehicle that was originally impounded in Westlake and brought to a Near West Side salvage yard.

CLEVELAND, OH -- Little did the owner of McMahan's Wrecking know that there was a pipe bomb inside the vehicle that was brought to the lot at W. 65th Street and Storer Avenue Nov. 11. The business owner, Don McMahan, called police Nov. 14 when the object rolled out of the cabin of a Saturn. It had been brought there from Westlake where it had been impounded, according to cleveland.com
The Cleveland Police Bomb Squad responded to McMahan's call, and they quickly confirmed that it was indeed a pipe bomb. They detonated it with a robot.
McMahan said that he recognized the object that fell out of the vehicle when it was picked up by a tractor and alerted his crew to stand aside until he could contact the police. He said he could tell there was something dangerous about the object from his years working in the salvage business.
