Ohio Father's Day Forecast: Summer Heat, Possible Thunderstorms

This may not be a great weekend to go golfing with Dad.

OHIO — Father's Day weekend in northern Ohio will be hot and stormy, according to current forecasts.

Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s by Sunday, with scattered thunderstorms possible throughout the weekend. The likeliest day for inclement weather is Friday, when there's an 80 percent chance of storms forming in Northeast Ohio.

"The main threats will be hail and strong thunderstorm wind gusts along with the potential for locally heavy rain that may cause streams and creeks to go out of their banks. An isolated tornado is also possible," the National Weather Service said of Friday.

There's a 30 percent chance thunderstorms will continue into Saturday and into Saturday night. Sunday afternoon should be bright and sunny, though there's a 30 percent chance of storms returning in the evening.

Despite the persistent possibility of rain and inclement weather, temperatures will climb steadily throughout the weekend. Friday's projected high is 84 degrees, Saturday's projected high is 85 degrees, and Sunday's projected high is 86 degrees, the National Weather Service said.
