Tornado Warning Issued For Northeast Ohio

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for much of Northeast Ohio.

CLEVELAND, OH – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning and watch for much of Northeast Ohio. The watch expires at 7 p.m., the warning is currently set to expire at 3:15 p.m.

After a chilly fall day on Saturday, weather conditions turned unseasonably warm, with a band of strong thunderstorms across much of Greater Cleveland on Sunday morning that dumped heavy rains. The rain and storms are expected to continue through Sunday evening.

The tornado watch covers dozens of counties in northern Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Ashland, Erie, and Lucas, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado warning is currently in effect for northwestern Lorain and north central Erie counties.

The weather service also has issued warnings for flash flooding for Sunday afternoon and into early Monday morning. Temperatures have been in the 60s Sunday, but are expected to drop Sunday night and on Monday reach into the high-50s with a mix of sunshine and clouds.
