Wealthy Ohio County Leads State In COVID-19 Vaccination Rates

DELAWARE, OH — Suburban Delaware County leads Ohio in COVID-19 vaccination rates, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Frequently rated as one of Ohio's wealthiest counties, based on per household income, Delaware is also the state's leader in residents vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. As of Monday, nearly 62 percent of Delaware County residents had received as least part of a vaccine.

People with at least one dose of the vaccine: 62 percent (129,153 residents)

2. Lake County

People with at least one dose of the vaccine: 54 percent (125,576)

3. Medina County

People with at least one dose of the vaccine: 53 percent (95,012)

4. Cuyahoga County
People with at least one dose of the vaccine: 53 percent (652,687)

5. Ottawa County

People with at least one dose of the vaccine: 52 percent (21,218)

Ohio overall

Approximately 47 percent of all Ohioans — 5.56 million people — have received at least part of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Ohio Department of Health. The state saw a short-lived bump in vaccination rates after Gov. Mike DeWine announced the Vax-a-Million lottery, though vaccination rates have steadily declined in recent weeks.

Coronavirus cases and deaths have also been steadily dropping since the beginning of the vaccine rollout. On Sunday, the Ohio Department of Health reported 154 new cases. Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged 288 new cases per day and 14 deaths per day.
