CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians will soon change their nickname.

Long a source of controversy, the Cleveland baseball team has decided to drop its "Indians" moniker and adopt a new nickname. It's unclear when that name will be announced, or when it will be officially rolled out, but several possible new names have been bandied about by fans.

The reported name change comes amid a wider movement against keeping sports team nicknames affiliated with Native Americans. Earlier this year, the Washington Redskins in the National Football League dropped their nickname and are now called the Washington Football Team.
