Women In Science Day Celebration Coming To Cleveland Museum

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Museum of Natural History will celebration International Women in Science Day on March 14. The event is free for museum members and included in admission for nonmembers.

Women in Science Day at the museum will be hosted by WKYC meteorologist Betsy Kling and will feature female science professionals and students from across Ohio. "Women in Science Day is your chance to explore unique STEM opportunities for women and girls while learning about the challenges they may face in pursuing their passion for science. Who can be a scientist? What career possibilities exist for women and girls in STEM fields? We’ll explore these questions and more at Cleveland’s official celebration of International Women and Girls in Science Day," a museum spokesperson said.

The event starts at 10 a.m. with a lecture on how science has impacted art. The lecture will be given by Amber Anderson, the museum's registrar.

At 11: 15 a.m., a female astronomer will lead a planetarium show. From 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., scientists will meet with guests for coffee and cookies.

From 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., Kling will lead a question-and-answer session with science professionals, discussing how they got into their fields and what sparked their love for science. The day will conclude with a second planetarium show from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
