Obituary : James A. Wallace, Langston University

Services held on-campus for long-serving staff and faculty member who passed November 26th.

Services were held at the weekend to honor the passing of James Wallace, a long-serving and much-loved member of the Langston University family.

Mr. Wallace trained in finance, accounting and business administration, earning his MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1971. He led the adult-education and job training nonprofit, Opportunities Industrialization Center in Oklahoma City until joining the Langston community in 1990.

At Langston Mr. Wallace was Director of the university’s Assessment and Career Services Department, being responsible for the assessment of all academic programs as well as directing career and experiential development programs for students. He also maintained an active teaching role, holding the rank of Assistant Professor in both the School of Business and the School of Education.

James Wallace was born October 11th, 1948 in Clearwater, Florida, and passed November 26th in Oklahoma City. He leaves a wife, Thelma, and children Dwanetta, Setrinia, Knicole and Gregory.

Services were attended by students, faculty, family and friends and conducted by Temple & Sons of Oklahoma City. Mr. Wallace will be deeply missed.
