Mistaken identity leads to near-fatal stabbing at southwest OKC convenience store (news9.com) — Police are investigating a near-fatal stabbing at the Nova Store near South May Avenue and SW 74th Street in southwest Oklahoma City after an apparent case of mistaken identity. One victim is in critical condition after surgery, another is stable, and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
   

2. Oklahoma City turnpike plans spark controversy over property impact (koco.com) — A new 28-mile turnpike loop around Oklahoma City, linking I-44 and I-35, is moving toward construction in early 2026 and will require more than 190 properties. State turnpike officials say the project will divert truck traffic from downtown, while homeowners and activists worry about eminent domain, home loss, and whether the road is truly necessary.
   

3. Freedom Center in Oklahoma City to reopen, honoring civil rights legacy (koco.com) — Oklahoma City’s historic Freedom Center is reopening Friday with a public ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m., funded through the city’s MAPS 4 initiative. Once a training ground for Clara Luper’s NAACP Youth Council and the city’s sit-in movement, the revitalized five-acre site aims to preserve that civil rights legacy while educating and empowering future generations.
   

4. Woman attempts to kidnap another mother's child (kfor.com) — Deputies in Oklahoma City quickly intervened after a woman allegedly tried to take another mother’s two-year-old inside the Oklahoma County Courthouse, with the child safely recovered. Body camera video shows the tense moments as deputies confronted the suspect, a woman with prior criminal cases, who now faces kidnapping and related charges. No injuries were reported.
   

5. Beloved Texas Icon Buc-ee's Suing Oklahoma Clothing Brand for Copyright Infringement (wearelubbock.com) — An Oklahoma City underwear brand called Nut Huggers is being challenged by Texas-based Buc-ee’s over a cartoon rodent logo the chain claims infringes its copyright. The local company’s owner says he has already changed the design but argues Buc-ee’s demands go too far, framing the fight as a threat to small Oklahoma businesses’ livelihoods.
