OKC Dodgers beat Grizzlies in 10, retain best record in PCL

Blues close out West Coast swing with 5-4 win. Open home stand at Bricktown on Wednesday

OKC Dodgers head home today having split the season series with the Fresno Grizzlies – although it took extra innings to earn the 5-4 victory.

On a steamy night in central California (88⁰ at game time) the Dodgers opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning, Edwin Rios scoring from 1st on Rob Segedin’s deep fly to center. Fresno answered immediately though with a two-out homer to center off Jack Girodo (0-2) in the bottom of the inning.

The teams continued to trade runs, ending nine innings tied 4-4. The 10th inning brought up the top of the OKC order though and they soon delivered - Alex Verdugo creating a force out at 2nd that allowed Andrew Toles to scamper home from 3rd with the winning run.

At 37-23 (.617) the Dodgers retain the best record in the Pacific Coast League. They remain one of only two AAA teams in the nation above .600 – the International league’s Toledo Mud Hens (39-23, .629) being the other.

After today’s travel day the Dodgers welcome the Salt Lake Bees to Bricktown on Wednesday night, the first of a planned seven game home stand. First pitch is scheduled for 7.05pm.
