OU athletes shine in California

Strong performances saw five OU athletes book passage to National Track & Field Finals

Sacramento, CA – The Sooners Track & Field team enjoyed an excellent outing on Day 2 of the NCAA Western Regionals in California. Five senior athletes booked their tickets to next month’s National Finals - Jessica Woodard (Discus, Shot), Ami Piper (400m), Leya Buchanan (100m), Medinah Spencer (400m Hurdles) and Sarah Scott (3000m Steeplechase) all turning in strong performances to qualify.

The Regional meet is being held at Hornet Stadium, the home of California State University, Sacramento and features more than 1,600 athletes from 120 colleges. The top performers in each discipline progress to the National Finals to be held in Eugene, Oregon beginning June 6th. The meet concludes tomorrow (Saturday). Field events begin at 12pm local (2pm CDT). Track events begin at 6pm local (8pm CDT).
