State gas prices continue to rise

AAA expects Fall and year-end prices to be 'unseasonably expensive'

Although gasoline prices typically drop at this time of year, this Fall they've continued to rise, hitting prices not seen since 2014.

“The September switch-over to winter-blend gasoline ushered in cheaper gas prices compared to the summer, but that drop was short lived,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “Crude oil accounts for half of the retail pump price and crude is selling at some of the highest price points in four years. That means Fall and year-end prices are going to be unseasonably expensive.”

According to AAA’s gas price index Oklahoma’s motorists are today averaging $2.69 cash price for a gallon of regular compared to $2.64 this time last month and just $2.23 this time last year. The national average of $2.90 per gallon also shows a 40¢ raise on the year.
