Teachers deserve the money to teach, not indoctrinate

With the Oklahoma teachers strike in its fifth day, time to consider what teachers are paid for - teaching or indoctrinating

Teachers in Oklahoma and Kentucky are demanding more money, as did teachers in West Virginia, who recently received a 5% pay increase, and Arizona teachers who have announced that they want a 20% pay increase. But, before we give teachers any more money, shouldn’t we come to an agreement on their job description?

Teachers say they are educating our children but it looks more like they’re indoctrinating our children. The value of the prior is considerably greater than the value of the latter. In fact, not only would I refuse to pay a plug nickel for teachers to continue indoctrinating our students, I think ‘teachers’ doing the indoctrinating should give back all the money they’ve ever made.

To get this straight, I am not opposed to teachers, if they’re actually teaching. I’m a strong proponent of education. At one time in my life, I voted in favor of every education-related referendum. I actively supported the idea of giving teachers more money for the vital job that they do, or that I thought they did. But, I have long-since discovered that teachers believe education inherently means downloading their personal views into the sponge-like minds of our children, never mind that the ideas these teachers promote would never have seen the light of day if not for the liberty created in a country they detest.

Many on the Left, including socialist and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, have pushed that taxpayers fund free college educations for all our children. Is this based on an altruistic desire to increase the knowledge and marketable skills of students? No, it’s based on an agenda where all young Americans would run through the assembly line of Leftist ideology and indoctrination.

Enough already. If teachers want more money, teach. If they want to tell children what to think, they should find something else to do while taxpayers save their money.
