Umpire services OKC

Who would have thought? I purchase my second rental property in Oklahoma and have it completely renovated so I can rent it back out within 30 days to cover the note on it. The problem was that when a big storm hit OKC, have of my rentals roof was ripped off. This wasn’t because the storm was a tornado, this was just poor craftsmanship.

The company I hired to install the roof was a small mom and pop shop with the owners actually giving me my quote and performing the installation. Nothing wrong with the owners doing the work, in fact, I would rather that be the case most of the time unless they take no pride in what they do.

I ended up contacting the best umpire service OKC has. It wasn’t easy to find them, but after searching the web and asking around locally I finally made the connection. The guys at Goodman Consulting came out and were able to locate the defects that had caused the roof to give way to the winds. Turns out the workers either didn’t use enough nails, or the shingles they used were defective. After contacting my insurance company and going through the whole process, they were able to get the roofers to come back out and repair the roof, otherwise, this was going to the courts.

Lesson learned, before hiring a contractor in the Oklahoma area to do any work make sure you vet them first thoroughly. Had I gone with a quality roofing company like Salazar Roofing and Construction I probably wouldn’t even be writing this now. For future rentals, I will use Salazar for all roofing installations and repairs. If there comes a time where I need to flex some muscle, I won’t hesitate to call Goodman Consulting either. I was pleased with the professionalism and responsiveness from both.

They both designated experts and if it had gone to court, both would have provided mediation/testimony. The roofing consultants and construction experts are credentialed construction professionals and include recognized experts in the fields of repair cost estimating, forensic architecture, civil/structural engineering, roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope systems. Goodman Consulting provides nationwide construction related expert support services to the nation’s most recognized construction litigation practitioners, Fortune 500 builders, commercial general liability carriers, owners, construction practice groups, and a variety of state and local government agencies.

If you have rental properties in Oklahoma then these are some good people to know. Glad I didn’t have to go through too many companies before I found them. They were able to identify the issue I had and helped build a case around it. This alone was enough to get my roof replaced. Thankfully it’s a done deal now and I can look back on it as a learning lesson, another one of life’s bumps in the road. No matter the state, there are shady people everywhere and in every business, I happened to uncover one that was disguised as a roofer.

From now on I will be checking the web for ratings and reviews on anyone I hire in the future to work on my rental properties.
