Report: Foster Planning Board Votes To Ban Wind Turbines
Concerns about noise, vibration and flickering led the board to vote 5-1 to prohibit wind turbines, according to a local report.

FOSTER, RI — The Planning Board has registered its opposition to wind energy turbines and towers in town with a 5-1 vote to ban the structures.
The Valley Breeze reports that the board on April 7 voted to amend the town's green energy ordinance to prohibit wind turbines. The matter must now go before the Town Council for more discussion and a separate vote.
The Planning Board decision came after Assistant Solicitor Joanna Achilles warned that a complete ban could leave the town open to possible lawsuits. Residents of Portsmouth attended the meeting and said wind turbines in that town have diminished their quality of life.
