Hopkinton Man Arrested By Richmond P.D. On Statutory Rape Charge

RICHMOND, RI — The Richmond Police Department arrested a Hopkinton man and charged him with third-degree sexual assault, a statute relevant to suspects over the age of 18 and victims who are older than 14 and under 16, the age of consent in Rhode Island.

Dylan J. Jarrett, 20, of Hopkinton was taken into custody Tuesday evening on the basis of an affidavit and arrest warrant for sexual assault of a minor over the age of 14, Richmond Police Chief Elwood M. Johnson, Jr. stated in a media release.

Detectives conducted an investigation after a complaint was taken at the police station, Johnson said. Jarrett turned himself in and was processed and arraigned by a bail commissioner. He was released on personal recognizance and is due to appear in 4th Division District Court on July 2 for a felony screening.
