Man Dies In Richmond Head-On Crash
Police believe a pickup truck entered the oncoming lane and collided with a car in front of the Richmond Elementary School.

RICHMOND, RI — A man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a head-on crash in Richmond.
Thursday at around 3:45 p.m. a large pickup truck heading east on Kingstown Road veered into the westbound lane while rounding the corner at Richmond Elementary School, Richmond police said in a news release. His truck hit a westbound car head-on, causing the car to spin into the school driveway.
The male driver was killed and his female passenger suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, police said.

Members of the Carolina Fire Department, Hope Valley Wyoming Fire Department, Hope Valley Ambulance Corps and West Greenwich Ambulance assisted with extrication and the emergency medical response.

Police said they believe that the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their safety belts.
The names of the motorists are being withheld pending notification to next of kin, and pending further investigation to ascertain the factors that led the operator of the pickup truck to lose control of his vehicle prior to the crash, said Sgt. Michael Lawing of the Richmond Police Department.
