Community Foundation of the NRV awards $269,000 to nonprofits, schools (montcova.com) — Christiansburg Primary School is among dozens of local schools and nonprofits receiving part of $269,000 in new grants from the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. Several Montgomery County programs, from food assistance to youth education and Warm Hearth Village, also benefit, with another grant cycle opening in May 2026 for groups serving area residents.

Auburn names Gaynor softball coach (montcova.com) — Christiansburg High School’s state-championship softball coach, Sean Gaynor, is leaving to take over the softball program at Auburn High School in Riner, meaning Christiansburg must now find a new coach. The case, tried over two days in Christiansburg, centered on allegations he used a false address and voted improperly, and concluded with multiple guilty verdicts announced Tuesday.

Generous Donation Supports Meals on Main (nrvnews.com) — Families in Christiansburg should know that the YMCA’s Meals on Main program continues providing free, USDA-approved meals and snacks to local children ages 1–18, thanks to a new donation from the original University Club of VPI & SU. The gift supports a mobile kitchen and distribution sites that have already delivered over 200,000 meals to kids in Christiansburg, Blacksburg, and surrounding communities.

5. Pack, William Carl (nrvnews.com) — Christiansburg readers are remembering William “Bill” Carl Pack, who was born in Christiansburg in 1942 and later made his home in Blacksburg. The longtime machinist, outdoorsman, and devoted family man died Monday at age 83, and his funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg, with visitation just before the service.
