2017 U.S. Open: Mickelson Withdraws; Parking, Schedule, Leaderboard And More

The 2017 U.S. Open will be held at Erin Hills in Wisconsin. Phil Mickelson has withdrawn. Tee Times, Pairings, Parking and More!

On one of professional golf's biggest weekends, Phil Mickelson made it clear it was more important for him to be a dad. News broke Thursday that Mickelson is skipping the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills to be there for his daughter Amanda's high school graduation..

According to media reports, he prayed that a rain delay that would allow him to make his 2:20 first-round tee time with Steve Sticker and Stewart Cink. The rain came a day early on Wednesday, and now alternate Roberto Diaz will play in his place.

The 2017 U.S. Open will be held in Wisconsin's Erin Hills for the first time in the tournament's history. Tee times begin Thursday, June 15 with the opening round and conclude on Sunday, June 18. With a purse of $12 million, this will be the first time a major winner's share will surpass $2 million.

Dustin Johnson comes into the tournament as this year's favorite, however top golfers Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day are favored by oddsmakers as well.

June 12-14 (Practice rounds)
June 15-18 (Championship rounds)

Location:

Erin Hills Golf Course, Erin, WI

Field:

156 professionals and amateurs; a portion of the field will earn exemptions into the championship through designated exemption categories. The remaining players will earn a spot through U.S. Open qualifying. Any professional or an amateur golfer with a USGA handicap index not exceeding 1.4 may enter U.S. Open qualifying.

Format:
72 holes stroke play. Field will be cut to low 60 scores (and ties) following the completion of 36 holes. An 18-hole playoff will take place on Monday if two or more players are tied after 72 holes.

Tickets:
Tickets became available to the general public for purchase at www.usga.org/tickets on Monday, June 13, 2016. A variety of packages and price points are available.

Parking:

Complimentary parking will be provided at two large parking lots. The RED Lot is due east of Erin Hills and the BLUE Lot is due south. Please follow general parking signage and/or directions from parking attendants to the designated parking location. Complimentary shuttle transportation will be provided from both parking areas to and from Erin Hills and is expected to take approximately 25 minutes in each direction.

Please note: There is no general parking or disabled fan parking available in the immediate vicinity of the golf course. All other parking is by permit only. For fans requiring lift-equipped shuttle transportation, please contact the USGA Admissions Office at 1-800-698-0661 for further information.

Passenger Drop-Off:

The Passenger Drop-Off will be only allowed at the designated area located at Erin School in Erin, Wis., which is a five to 10-minute walk to Gate 1. There is no parking or staging for vehicles, so please coordinate pick-up times accordingly. Due to traffic restrictions, access is limited to vehicles no larger than a 12- passenger van or limousine.

USGA History at Erin Hills:
This is the third USGA national championship to be conducted at Erin Hills, following the 2008 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship and the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship.
