Motorcycle Dealership Proposed In Waukesha

The Plan Commission will consider the request for a dealership to replace Front Porch home goods store.

WAUKESHA, WI—A Triumph motorcycle dealership is proposed to replace the former Front Porch home goods store in Waukesha. The Waukesha Plan Commission will meet on Wednesday to consider the proposal for Proven Power Sports, 1505 STH 164.

The applicant described the business as a retail boutique style powersports dealership dealing primarily in motorcycles, offering new and used unit sales, parts and repair service.

Half of the space will be related to retail show floor, administrative areas and employee training. The remaining space for repair and parking of repair machines, according to city documents.

According to city documents, the space has an area of roughly 3,000 square feet. A display and sales floor section will be located in the front with the service department in the back. Plan consist of adding a new overhead door into the front wall of the building to allow motorcycles to be brought in and out for service and display.

A driveway apron will be added and stripe off one parking space to allow access. The striped space will need to be offset slightly from the door, but the applicants believe this will not be a problem for motorcycles.

While the parking lot is shared between several businesses on the property, 31 spaces are designated for use by this tenant. Along with the space that will be blocked for building access they plan to use three spaces for motorcycle display during business hours, leaving 27 spaces for customers and employees.

The store will open with four employees and may have as many as eight. The applicants expect twenty to forty customers per day at most, the documents said.

The building façade will be painted black with a white stripe over the entrance, but otherwise will not be altered. The new signs will be white backlit channel letters.

The proposed hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, closed Sundays and national holidays.
