Cell Tower Plans In Waukesha Withdrawn After Citizen Protests

The 100-foot cell tower was planned for construction behind a local church, spurring a months-long protest from residents.

WAUKESHA - North-side residents in Waukesha have won their fight against a proposed 100-foot cell tower behind a local church after the company withdrew plans for the new tower and renewed their lease at its current location.

U.S. Cellular has withdrawn plans for construction of the 100-foot tower at 915 Magnolia Drive, near Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, which spurred a months-long protest from residents. The matter has been taken off the docket for Wednesday's Waukesha Plan Commission meeting.

Not many were on-board with the tower's proposed new location, bringing together city and county officials and residents, who were concerned about the impact the tower would have on property values and aesthetics of the area, as well as potential health risks.
