Dog Exercise Areas Now Open

If you want your four-legged friend to have a place where he or she can roam and run without running away or breaking city ordinances, you might want to check out the dog exercise areas in Minooka Park in Waukesha and Nashotah Park in Delafield.

While dogs are not allowed -- even with a leash -- in most city parks, most county parks allow dogs on leashes. However, Minooka and Nashotah have a special, fenced-in section to allow your dogs to roam and play.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE DOG PARKS

  • You need a park sticker. It's $4/day or $28/year if you are a Waukesha County resident.
  • Clean up after your dog. The parks have baggies for you to clean up after your pooch, but it's still a good idea to bring your own in case the park runs out.
  • Your dog needs to be on a leash when you are on the trails and any place outside of the dedicated dog park area.

Have fun! Tell us about your experiences at the dog park in the comments!
