WAUKESHA, WI — The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County has rescued more than 100 dogs and cats in advance of severe weather that hit Oklahoma and other states in the U.S. Great Plains.

According to a WISN 12-TV report, HAWS officials picked up 50 dogs and 50 cats from an Oklahoma shelter on Friday, and got each of the animals checked by the vet in advance of a local adoption campaign.

"Following our Emergency Placement Partnership support that we provided to a shelter in need in Oklahoma, we have so many friends waiting to meet you," HAWS officials said this week. "Stop in today to meet your new best friend! We will have puppy and dog tails wagging away waiting to meet you today."

As an extra special bonus, dogs who are more than one year old have an adoption fee of $75. Dogs who are more than six years old are $50 through Thursday, May 23, 2019.
