Main Street Construction Project Clears Hurdle; New Detour
Next week, the contractor plans to bring in a second crew to begin installing water services on Aurora and on Main Street.

WAUKESHA, WI — Waukesha's Downtown Main Street reconstruction project cleared a hurdle this week as a stretch of water main was successfully installed. Officials are planning to move to the next stretch of water main installation and say there's a traffic detour that will accompany the work.
According to an update provided by Waukesha Water Utility officials this week, work is nearly complete on all of the 24-inch water main line installation for the project, which includes from Lombardi Way to Manhattan Drive.
Next week, the contractor plans to bring in a second crew to begin installing water services on Aurora and on Main Street between Lombardi Way and Perkins Ave., as well as working on side street connections.

Officials say that property owners will be notified a minimum of 24-hours in advance of when their water will be temporarily turned off. That period will coincide with the service installs and connection to the new water system, officials said. Typically the contractor will provide a four-hour time frame.
Overall, the City of Waukesha is reconstructing Main Street from Lombardi Way to Manhattan Drive. The project involves installing about 4,000 feet of new 24-inch water main, 530 feet of sanitary sewer relay, 3,000 feet of sanitary sewer lining, and all new concrete pavement.
