Man Fights With Teens, Spits on Cop, Complaint Says

A 46-year-old Waukesha man who was fighting with teenagers in downtown Waukesha on Sept. 10 now faces more trouble after causing problems for police officers, according to a criminal complaint.

Steven L. Leslie was charged on Sept. 11 with felony bail jumping, throwing bodily fluid at a public safety worker, misdemeanor bail jumping, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces six years and 90 days in jail and $41,000 in fines.

Two officers on foot patrol found Leslie fighting with a group of juveniles around 9 p.m. Saturday. One 16-year-old boy told officers that he was biking when Leslie started yelling vulgarities at him and talking nasty about his mother. Leslie also threatened to beat the boy and his friends up, according to the complaint.

Leslie admitted to yelling at the juveniles and threatening to hurt them, the complaint states. However, he became agitated and when a female police officer attempted to calm him down, he called her several vulgar names and told her he didn’t respect women.

The two officers took him into custody as he continued to scream out the vulgarities and threatened to harm both officers the next time they saw him. He spat at one officer, hitting his neck, according to the complaint.

As the officers went to transfer Leslie from his holding cell to the Waukesha County Jail, they had to kneel in spit and urine, the complaint states.
