Oh Deer! Humane Society Says Resident Meant Well
"Nature often takes care of itself - please allow the circle of life a chance at completion," HAWS officials said.

WAUKESHA, WI — Officials at the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha said a local resident meant well when he brought a newborn fawn into HAWS, however that the kind gesture was a mistake.
"Last week, this very recently newborn fawn was brought into HAWS. We understand the homeowner meant well, thinking they were saving an abandoned or orphaned animal," HAWS officials said in a social media post on Monday.
HAWS staff took the fawn back to the location it was found, and it was reunited with it's mother. The fawn's mother was was waiting in the wooded area nearby and the two were reunited within moments.

"Leave fawns where they are," HAWS officials stressed. "Newborns, especially, will not move much if at all - momma is nearby. She has left the fawn on purpose."
HAWS officials say residents who happen upon a fawn should follow the following steps:

1. Do not try to feed or medicate the fawn.
2. Contact Wildlife in Need for advice at 262-965-3090; leave a message with your information or reference their website at helpingwildlife.org
