Falling is a serious matter. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among adults 65 and older, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Every year, one in four older adults fall and 3 million people are treated for fall-related injuries in emergency departments. One in five falls results in a serious injury such as head trauma or fracture.

ProHealth Care provides “Stepping On,” an evidence-based fall prevention workshop, several times a year. The comprehensive workshop helps attendees learn how to recognize their risks of falling and build the strength and practical skills needed to prevent falls. There is no charge to participate in the eight-week program or for related materials.

The workshop sessions are not designed for older adults who use a walker indoors, a wheelchair full time, or who have dementia or cognitive impairment. Attendees must be able to connect to the workshops using a computer or tablet capable of playing video.
