Suspect Dead After Shots Fired During New Berlin Standoff
The standoff lasted more than seven hours and finally ended when police forced entry into the home to find the unidentified suspect dead.

NEW BERLIN - An unidentified suspect was found dead at a home on W. Sunnyslope Road around 4 a.m. this morning after a standoff with police lasting more than seven hours.
Police were called around 8:52 p.m. Friday on a report of shots fired near I-43 and Sunnyslope Road by New Berlin Eisenhower School. Officers heard more shots on arrival and were shot at after they set up a perimeter. Officers returned fire but don't believe anyone was harmed in this exchance.
WISN reports the New Berlin Police Department and the Suburban Critical Incident Team were able to contact the suspect by phone, who had barricaded himself in a home in the 4600 block of Oakwood Terrace.

The suspect refused to leave and officers from Waukesha and Milwaukee counties had to force entry into the home, where the suspect was found dead around 4 a.m.
He has not been identified pending notification of his family.
