Waukesha Butcher Explains Online Store Hours Confusion

Roberts' Specialty Meats discovered the store was listed as closed on Sundays.

WAUKESHA, WI — Paul Roberts, owner of Roberts’ Specialty Meats, knew something was wrong on Sunday when customers repeatedly called to check if his store was open.

Roberts', which has been around for almost 15 years, provides quality meats at affordable prices, Roberts told Patch.

Roberts was told his store at 135 E. Sunset Drive was listed on Apple Maps as being closed on Sundays. The store is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Patch contacted Apple Maps but the company hadn’t responded as of Thursday afternoon.

“It was something we have dealt with in the past, like, four or five times with Apple Maps,” Roberts said.

By Monday, Roberts had enough and posted on the store’s Facebook page.

“We need your help in this matter!
Apple Maps is not doing us any favor, and has been a real pain in our business.
Our business hours have been the same pretty much since we have opened.
Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sunday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.”

But Apple Maps, as you can see in this screenshot has us listed as Closed today! (Sunday)
I have several times in the past, and will again contact Apple Maps to get this corrected. In the past, when talking to a representative of A.M. they walked me though every situation that would cause this to happen. They still can’t figure out why it is still happening.
So, if you would be so kind as to share this information with your friends and family we would appreciate it.”
Several people replied to the post saying they had contacted Apple Maps.

On Wednesday, Apple Maps corrected the hours.

Roberts said errors online can have a negative effect on small businesses. He hasn’t heard from other local businesses who experienced the same problem. Roberts encouraged people to double check how their businesses are listed to make sure they’re accurate.

“I’m not a tech savvy guy, so it is not my highest priority to deal with that stuff. I’m more concerned with taking care of my customers that are in the shop,” he said.

This Sunday, due to the 4th of July holiday, the store is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
