Waukesha County Supervisor To Ride 100 miles In 1 Day

The National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin kicks off a month-long event on Thursday for kidney health and organ donation awareness.

WAUKESHA, WI— Waukesha County Supervisor and CEO of the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin, Mike Crowley, is spearheading an event aimed at raising funds and awareness of organ donation.

The foundation is hosting a new month-long event for kidney health and organ donation awareness. The event, called the Cool Beans Adventure, kicks off Thursday with Crowley riding 100 miles on that day.

“Creating an event that encompasses our full mission, being dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and increasing the availability of all organs for transplantation is paramount to our success in reaching all of the individuals in Wisconsin who need us,” Crowley said in a statement.

The event features an opportunity for participants to choose how they move and track miles in July with a goal of 434 miles for the 434 kidney transplants that happened in Wisconsin in 2020.

You can move toward this goal individually or with a team on the following days:

  • Kickoff on Thursday with Bike Like Mike.
  • Double Your Miles Days: July 11 and July 22.
  • Walking Wednesdays throughout July.
  • Celebration of Life on July 31.

The annual Capital City Celebration of Life for Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donation will cap off the campaign with a virtual program at 6 p.m. July 31.
