Waukesha Sheriff K9 Asking For Your Vote ... Today

According to a Waukesha Sheriff's office Facebook post: "Help your department earn one of eight grants totaling $16,500!"

WAUKESHA, WI -- The Waukesha County Sheriff's office is asking for your vote - not in the Nov. 6 election, but rather in a vote to help its K9 officers.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's office is one of several law enforcement agencies that's currently in the running to earn one of eight grants. This year, the Aftermath K9 Grant will award a total of $16,500 in grants that can be used to further established K9 units or to create a brand new ones. Communities nationwide will determine the top eight award recipients through popular vote.

According to a Waukesha Sheriff's office Facebook post: "Help your department earn one of eight grants totaling $16,500! Voting is easy – simply select your department, fill out your information, and click submit. If you’re looking to lend an extra paw, head on over to our Instagram page (@AftermathK9Grant), find our daily K9 Grant post, like and write in your K9 department in the comments to earn an additional vote. Rally your friends, family, and community to support your K9 unit and those lovable four-legged officers"

You can vote until Nov. 5, and submit a vote once every 12 hours. Votes will be tallied after the voting period ends and the winning K9 units will be announced on Nov. 7.

Top prize is a $5,000 grant.
