Wisconsin Weather: Winter Storm Warning Now In Effect
Prepare for poor travel conditions and dangerously cold wind chills in Southeastern Wisconsin.

WISCONSIN -- A major winter storm is moving through Wisconsin Sunday night and will continue through Monday with all of southern Wisconsin seeing more than six inches of snow.
East-central Wisconsin could see between 10 and 14 inches of show. Gusty wind will cause blowing and drifting snow into Wednesday keeping roads treacherous.
Bitterly cold air arrives Tuesday and lingers through Friday. Temperatures are likely to remain below zero from Monday night through Friday morning, especially away from the effects of Lake Michigan.

These cold temperatures will combine with a westerly breeze to produce minimum wind chill values of -35 to -50 Tuesday night through Thursday morning.
The snow will push in from the west Sunday evening. It should reach the Madison area around 9 p.m. and the Milwaukee area by 11 p.m.

Snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are possible at times from midnight to 9 a.m. Monday morning. The majority of snow will fall during this time. Hazardous travel conditions are
expected tonight into Monday due to the heavy snow and gusty wind causing blowing and drifting snow that will continue into Tuesday.
As temperatures fall Monday evening night, road treatments will become less effective.

Bitterly Cold Temperatures and Wind Chills This Week
Extremely cold air arrives behind Monday’s snow. Once temperatures fall below zero Monday night, they will likely not rise back above zero until Friday.
Tuesday night through Wednesday night will be the coldest period. Daytime highs on Wednesday will be around -15. Overnight lows are forecast to be -20 to -28 Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
These bitterly cold temperatures will combine with a westerly breeze of 5 to 15 mph to produce minimum wind chill values of -35 to -50. Temperatures and wind chill values may be marginally warmer immediately along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
