WAUKESHA, WI — A Waukesha woman desperately wants to see her lost cat safely returned home, and will award $5,000 for his rescue.

Waukesha resident Robin Coleman, who lives on the city's west side, said her cat, Cooper, got out on Oct. 9 from Century Oak Drive near Summit and Meadowbrook in Waukesha.

"Throw a coat, blanket over him, secure him, live trap, please bring Cooper safely home," Coleman wrote in a rescue notice this week.

Cooper is described as an orange American short-hair cat of a medium size. A second description indicates that Cooper is a tabby.

According to a media report, Coleman said Cooper got out of the house when high winds blew a door open. She said in the report that she's seen Cooper on home surveillance camera footage. She's put out food, a sweater and even a heated doghouse in hopes Cooper comes back.

Lenore Phillips, who is helping to track down Cooper, wrote the following this week: "Cooper the cat has been missing for 6 weeks. Neighbors, friends and others have been helping Robin look for her cat. But we haven't succeeded. This area has so many farms, fields, woods and construction that it's hard to search beyond the neighborhoods. Robin has increased the reward to $5,000."

A Lost Cats of Wisconsin post shared additional information, including that Cooper could be injured, and laying low. Coleman recommends people not chase him, and that he may have sought refuge in a barn, garage, or under a porch.

"He is afraid of others but adores me. He sleeps with me, sits on my lap, loves his siblings," Coleman wrote. "My heart is broken and overwhelmed with concern for my Cooper. Thank you!"
