28-Year-Old Dead After Car Accident In East Cleveland
Investigators believe the man's SUV hit three poles before coming to a stop.
EAST CLEVELAND, OH — A 28-year-old man was killed in a car crash in East Cleveland on Sunday night.
At approximately 11 p.m., a 2019 Kia Sorento struck a curb near Doan Avenue and went off the road. The Kia hit a concrete island, sideswiped a pole, struck a second pole, spun and hit a third pole. The SUV finally came to a stop near Mayfair Avenue.
The driver of the Sorento was taken to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

It's not yet clear if the driver was intoxicated, the highway patrol said. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by East Cleveland police. Interstate Towing helped remove the Sorento from the crash site.

"The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds all occupants of vehicles to fasten their seat belts for every trip," a spokesperson said.
